For fall semester 2022, Down East Singers will perform with T-Acadie, a trio from Maine specializing in Acadian folk music. Band members Pam Weeks, Jim Joseph, and Bill Olsen play a variety of music from the French Canadian and New England traditions. They also offer Cajun waltzes and blues, two-steps and Zydeco tunes and songs in three-part harmony.
Down East Singers' December “Noël Français” concerts will include not only French-Canadian carols, but European French holiday repertoire and some pieces in collaboration with T-Acadie, such as the lively dance tune “Si mon moine voulait danser,” arranged by Quebec composer Donald Patriquin.
Down East Singers is a musical organization specifically incorporated to create opportunities for participation and enrichment for community members to perform quality choral music under professional leadership and to bring affordable live choral music performances to community audiences. This experience enables those with talent and musical interests to develop their musical potential while at the same time striving for excellence in musical performance.
