This event is FREE and open to the public.
Join members of the Rockport Conservation Commission and State Representative Vicki Doudera for a free community screening of The Story of Plastic, an Emmy-winning feature-length documentary, and companion animated short. The film is a seething expose uncovering the ugly truth behind the current global plastic pollution crisis. Striking footage shot over three continents illustrates the ongoing catastrophe: fields full of garbage, veritable mountains of trash; rivers and seas clogged with waste; and skies choked with the poisonous runoff from plastic production and recycling processes with no end in sight.
But don't despair! Following the film we'll discuss ways we can all take action toward a future without plastic pollution!
Moderated by Representative Vicki Doudera, the panel will follow the movie screening with members:
Matt Prindiville, Chief Solutioneer and CEO for Upstream, a non-profit sparking innovative solutions to plastic pollution
Kathleen Meil, Director of Policy & Partnerships for Maine Conservation Voters
William Bow, member of the Rockport Conservation Commission and retired industry consultant
The Camden Rockport Middle School Environmental Club will be present selling Beeswax wrappers to support their club.
